I am a passionate, goal-directed hard working Occupational Therapist.  I love our dynamic and holistic profession and I am constantly improving my skill set.  After obtaining my Honours degree at the University of the Free State.  I completed my community service year at Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital.  This was such a meaningful year and sparked my love for psychiatry.  I went on to work for a dynamic private practice in Gauteng where I was able to have the “best of both” worlds i.e. psychiatry and physical.  During this period I completed my post graduate diploma in Hand Therapy as the majority of my physical patients experienced upper limb injuries.  I also managed a private psychiatric clinic during this time.

The tools and skills I gained gave me the confidence to venture into my own private practice in Centurion.  Focusing mainly on orthopaedic conditions and psychiatry.  In 2014 I had the privilege of a partnership with my sister, as my husband was relocated to the Eastern Cape.  Watermeyer & van der Merwe was born and it has been such a journey to this point.  Working alongside my sister, whom I not only respect personally, but also professionally has been a blessing.  At Watermeyer and van der Merwe Occupational Therapy we really “go the extra mile” for all our clients.  We are constantly improving our services and making academic contributions to the profession.  I am currently amidst completion of my Masters degree that will also further enhance our services.
